How much does it cost to hire a crane?
What moves the price, what to send for an accurate quote, and why Kran adds no union, overtime or weekend charges.
There is no single price for a crane. The cost depends on the load, the site and how long the crane is needed, so Kran quotes each job after hearing what it involves. This page explains what moves the price up or down and what to send so your quote is accurate the first time.
What drives the cost of a crane
Crane size
The heavier the load and the farther it has to reach from the setup spot, the bigger the crane. Kran runs cranes from 30 to 400 tons and matches the size to your pick. See crane sizes.
Hours on the job
Time on site, including setup and teardown, is a large part of the price. A well-prepared site and a clear plan keep the hours down.
Travel
Distance from our La Salle yard or our Denver, Greeley and Colorado Springs locations to the job affects the cost, especially for mountain and Wyoming work.
Rigging and crew
A crane and operator under your crew (crane rental) costs differently from a full lift where Kran riggers rig, signal and set the load (crane service).
Permits and hauling
Oversize loads and some crane moves need permits. Kran pulls its own CDOT and WYDOT permits, and heavy haul can be quoted in the same job. Oversize permits are billed separately as a line item on your quote.
Setup and site conditions
Ground conditions, access, overhead lines and the space to set outriggers all shape which crane fits and how long setup takes. The lift planner shows what to check.
How Kran keeps the bill simple
Kran is non-union. We add no union fees and no overtime or weekend charges, and we keep billing transparent, so the quote you approve is the job you pay for. Long-term jobs are bid per project.
Crane, boom truck or telehandler?
Not every job needs a big crane. Kran also runs boom trucks and telehandlers. Tell us the load and the site, and we will suggest the right machine for the pick.
